Soul Clap, the grandmasters of E-Funk, hit Leeds on Thursday April 13th at Church, Leeds, for a rare appearance in the city. They are over in the UK for a mini tour with a new album forthcoming on Fabric. It’s a bank holiday the next day so we thought we’d throw a 20/20 party for the guys and show them how we roll up here. If you’ve never seen Soul Clap you can expect a funk fuelled selection mixed up on vinyl of classic house, rare disco cuts and plenty of electronic funk. Their latest album was the bomb and has re-ignited the buzz around the duo as they venture back into classic house music, check out ‘Shine’ with Nona Hendryx off there. Soul Clap have previously recorded with the one and only George Clinton of Parliament / Funkadelic fame and even the elusive Sly Stone, not bad for a couple of funky white boys from Boston. It’s time to get down to the Soul Clap sound!
